Polarization associated with the coupling to isoscalar dipole compression mode

چکیده
The effect of core polarization on isoscalar dipole one-particle moments due to the coupling with isoscalar giant dipole resonance ~compression mode! is estimated. Numerical calculations with the core nucleus 82 Pb126 show that a small enhancement of one-particle moments is obtained, of which the magnitude depends sensitively on relevant one-particle orbitals. The results are important for a microscopic understanding of the electric dipole moments ~Schiff moments! measured for nuclei in this mass region.

Isoscalar compression modes in relativistic random phase approximation
A fully consistent relativistic RPA calculation is performed for the monopole and dipole compression modes in nuclei. The emphasis is put on the effects of Dirac sea states which are generally neglected in relativistic RPA calculations. It is found that these effects can be quite important for the isoscalar monopole mode. The main contributions from the pairs of Fermi to Dirac sea states are th...
متن کاملSelf-consistent description of nuclear compressional modes
Isoscalar monopole and dipole compressional modes are computed for a variety of closed-shell nuclei in a relativistic random-phase approximation to three different parametrizations of the Walecka model with scalar self-interactions. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of self-consistency which by itself, and with little else, guarantees the decoupling of the spurious isoscalar-dipole stre...
متن کاملIsoscalar Giant Dipole Resonance and Nuclear Matter Incompressibility Coefficient
Studies of compression modes of nuclei are of particular interest since their strength distributions, S(E), are sensitive to the value of the nuclear matter incompressibility coefficient, K [1]. At present, Hartree-Fock (HF) based random-phase-approximation(RPA) calculations for the isoscalar giant monopole resonance (ISGMR) reproduce the experimental data for effective interactions associated ...
متن کامل0 On dipole compression modes in nuclei
Isoscalar dipole strength distributions in spherical medium-and heavy-mass nuclei are calculated within random phase approximation (RPA) or quasiparticle RPA. Different Skyrme-type interactions corresponding to incompressibilities in the range 200-250 MeV are used. The results are discussed in comparison with existing data on isoscalar giant dipole resonances. Two main issues are raised, firstl...
متن کاملMode-coupling in a relativistic two-phonon model
The relativistic quasiparticle time blocking approximation (RQTBA), developed recently as a consistent combination of the covariant energy density functional theory (CEDFT) and the modern extensions of the Landau– Migdal theory of finite fermi systems, is reviewed in Ref. [1]. In the RQTBA, starting from the covariant energy functional, phonon energies and their vertices are calculated without ...
